Gregory Z55 and Jade 50 named "Best All-Around Weekend Pack” by Backpacker

With testers bestowing accolades including “this is the most comfortable pack I’ve worn all year – in any category,” Gregory’s new Z55 and Jade 50 men’s and women’s packs were named "Best All-Around Weekend Pack" by the editors of the 2007 Backpacker Magazine Gear Guide.

The magazine’s testers “loved the wide, ergonomically contoured hip belt and lumber pad (on the Z55 and Jade), as well as the "downright dreamy" shoulder straps. The curved mesh backpanel rides an inch off the spine, providing excellent ventilation.”

The Z55 and the Jade 50, which is the women’s-specific version of the Z 55, represent a major evolution of Gregory’s classic Z pack, a perennial favorite of Appalachian through-hikers and light-and-fast alpinists alike. The packs feature a new suspension system called Jet Stream, which allows air flow to reach the wearer’s back while still providing effective load transfer into the pack’s lumbar region, the hallmark of Gregory backpacks. That means Jet Stream promotes airflow across the back for cooling without sacrificing Gregory’s famous fit and performance. They both retail for $189.

In addition, the Gregory Electra also won "Best Women’s Pack" in the weeklong category. The magazine’s southwest editor called the Electra “a bona fide load monster for women” and noted that “the adjustable, women’s-specific belt distributed pressure … without shifting or sagging.”
