"Where are they now?" What happened to the hiking forums from the 90's?

It's been awhile since I have done any hiking. I started "back East" then moved "out West" and I've not been to a hiking forum since the 90's when I was regularly hiking. I wonder which forums still remain. I know the Backpacker Magazine site is still around but I seem to remember one or two that were online even before Backpacker. I remember one in particular was called "GORP", and maybe this one.
