Katmai NP is one of the only places in North America where large brown bears interact with humans all the time, and are habituated to them. Close encounters are a common occurrence. No inferences should ever be made about these bears and wild bears that do not have experience with humans. One of the reasons these bears tolerate humans is that they have a large, dependable supply of salmon many months of the year and have learned to not be territorial about it.

For sure!
What was the name of that guy who went to live with the grizzlies all the time? Timothy Treadwell? Even though there was food around, the bears let him get away with it for a while then apparently decided they'd had enough. They never did find his girlfriend....

Timothy Treadwell was an idiot who got lucky for awhile, when his luck ran out he brought his girlfriend along and got her munched too. He left because the bears had become too agressive, but then he went back with his girlfriend, and the bears had lunch. When theres no trout around anything is food to a hungry grizzly.
