I've been reviewing various tent, tarp, tent/tarp combos, and the best seems to be Six Moon Design's Europa tent. It's 2.4 pounds (counting the four required stakes), has a floor, "storm" and no-see-um doors, and an awning (in place of a full fly, I suppose).
It seems to be the best compromise between lightweight tarps (which are, of course, dirt cheap) and full-blown tents (which are, unfortunately, bulky and heavy, or as in the case of Stephenson's Warmlite, hideously expensive).
I'm not interested in going with a tarp as I'm not fond of critters crawlin' over me, and the tarp/ground sheet/bug net combo seems to trade light weight for added complexity.
What I can't tell, though, is how sturdy these tents are. I'm going to thru-hike the PCT this April and I'd like to "know" that my tent can go the distance.
Any input would be great.
