Hiking Sticks?

Question. 6 day hike in May in the Grand Canyon. 1 hiking stick or 2? (or none?) All other backpacking tips appreciated too.

Definately Two. Makes a difference on the uphill and level ground. Makes a huge difference on the downhills. We never leave home without them.

Best of luck,

Definitely two. They save your knees... I never hit the trails without them. However, I have had trouble with the REI Traverse poles. One will not lock into place after only about 8 hikes.

Ditto on definitely two. I hiked the Boucher/Tonto/Hermit loop last fall and the poles maintain your balance going down and help put you up coming out. Adjust them to be longer going down and shorter going up.
