Here are some of the pictures and movies (hey, I need to use this digital camera sometime, it's too heavy for backpacking ;-) I took at the hospital.
Eric was 9 lbs 4 oz at birth, but has been eating ever since, so he's heavier now. I need to go pick them up from the hospital now, but wanted to get the announcements out first.

Congrats (and condolences - how long till he sleeps through the night?)

Lessee, at 9++ pounds, added to your backpack, how are you going to keep the dayhike pack down under 50 pounds? I well remember the days of carrying my Little Baby Son in the carrier on dayhikes and backpacks. Then again, since Eric is Boy #3, you already know the routine.

When is the first hike with him? We had Young Son out on the bike (in a carrier on my back) by 2 weeks after coming home from the hospital, and as I was reminded last week, on his first backpack (and as it turned out, snow camp) at 3 years (wasn't supposed to snow, but it does snow in the Canadian Rockies in August sometimes).

Congratulations again, good luck, and get him out in the woods soon. And my condolences for the lost sleep (Dad does do his part in the middle of the night, doesn't he). But this too shall pass (and you actually will look back on it fondly in a few years).
