REI Tents

I just purchased the REI Half Dome 2 HC tent. I noticed some reviews on this web site for this tent and its sister - the Half Dome 2.

Does anybody know the big difference between these two tents? The reviews are different and am just wondering what "HC" stands for and if it means trouble.

Thanks for your help.

Re: REI Tents

The HC is an update of the old Half Dome design. The main difference is that the new tent uses a hub system and variable-diameter poles instead of the usual crossed-but-not-connected setup (HC = "hub/combi"). It also has more mesh on the walls and REI claims it has slightly more interior space.

Re: REI Tents

the height of the newer one is actually lower than the old Half Dome, too.
