TH4/5 coating

i have a redledge jacket that has the TH5 coating but i need a new pair of pants and the redledge pants all say they have the TH4 coating i was wondering how the coatings compare to gortex and the diffrence between them i have not had any trouble with my jacket soaking through when my friends gortex jackets are soaked through but that my just be luck

I have a pair of Marmot Precip pants that I really like. They have a proprietary fabric of some sort that is somewhat breathable. They retail for about $100. These pants have full zips so they are easy to put on without taking off your boots. I've used them a bit in winter in both rain and snow and was dry the whole time. My jacket is an REI Element. It works well also and is similar to the Marmot Precip Jacket-about the same price.
