(prayer request) Lime disease
I will do a trip right up in the short future here, but my brother and I went camping yesterday. Ended up hiking the 4.5 miles out of the spot in darkness. My brother after returning home found a tick on him, that had died. There is now a ring around where the tick had buried his head. So without a doubt it is lime disease.
Say a prayer for him at this time please.

Prayer will work but you have to provide a little help as well. Quick trip to a physician's office for a look see, diagnosis and perhaps a simple antibiotic treatment POST HASTE!
Generally easy cure, few side affects IF treated quickly. The longer you think about it, the more he will need the prayers.

Good luck to your brother. Hopefully he'll get the medical attention he needs right away.
While it's very unfortunate that he's probably contacted Lyme Disease, it's really fortunate that he found the tick and identified the ring immediately after your trip. That could make a huge difference in his treatment and recovery.
Good luck!

This is a HUGE topic when we get visitors from the "burbs" at our nature center. "Are there ticks?!" is a question we ALWAYS get. We've had parents refuse to allow their children to participate in group hikes because of the possibility of the child getting a tick on them. It's a topic that might actually deserve a home on the Scared Inside board.
Mr. Haze, Some good info can be found from Rady Children's Hospital at http://www.chsd.org/blank.cfm?id=685 and many, many other sites.
Speacock is right. Prayers certainly won't hurt, but medical help ASAP is the way to reduce long term effects. I would try to find a doctor that has worked with the disease before. You may be better off with a country doctor rather than a big hospital's emergency phys. when it comes to things like this.
Best wishes to your brother for a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted.

Prayer can do better than "not hurt". God answers prayers for healing all the time. And often he uses doctors as well. That's really his call.
Mr Haze, I'll pray while you and your brother are at the ER. ;)

Re: (prayer request) Lime disease
lyme disease isn't really that big of a deal.
I've had it a couple of times.
Second time, it went undetected for months...upon returning from a backpacking trip in Georgia, I dug a tick out of my head. Couple months later, my hair cutter happened to notice the "bullseye".
Go to the doc and get a tetanus shot and some antibiotics.
Funny, I never saw a tick until I moved to Florida...I moved here from East Lyme, CT.
Yes, east of Lyme

No disrespect intended, but being more of a science than faith person, I'd suggest seeing a doctor before visiting with a chaplin. The faster medical treatment starts the better the chance for a full recovery. I went through the ritual last year, felt like crud, went to the doc, got a couple tests, they started me on an antibiotic and felt right as rain in the next couple of days.

Now let's pray he doesn't get Clostridium Difficile from the antibiotics and from the door knobs at the health clinic.
