Elsewhere here on the site--specifically, at: http://www.trailspace.com/news/2009/02/23/warning-for-all-avalanche-transceiver-users.html, one can read that some radios and transceivers (and, presumably, transceivers and other magnet-carrying devices or products) can, if in close proximity, create a situation in which the magnetic field alters the settings/function of the transceiver.

So, in addition to "Don't cross the streams" (Important safety tip--thanks, Egan) one must add "Don't carry an avalanche transceiver/PLB near a magnet."
