I picked up this pack at an REI clearance sale. It's a 33-liter (2000ci) panel-loader with a hollow aluminum stay-supported framesheet and a very well-supported suspension (more on that later).
Materials: 210-denier broken-twill nylon + 70-denier ripstop SilNylon + 1000-denier Kodra reinforcements
Weight: 2lbs 11oz
Listed features:
* Air Cut Waist Belt
* Light reflective logo
* Hollow-core 7075 aluminum stays
* Two water bottle pockets
* Adjustable dual ice axe loops
* Air Cut Gold backpanel
* Dual-density, S-shaped shoulder straps
Very cool features that I noticed:
* Adjustable load distributor straps that come off of the waist-belt, which is itself quite burly. This pack has some very heavy-duty suspension for its daypack-ish capacity. Not that I ever had the chance to load it up to capacity, but I suspect it will handle 25-pound loads without problem. During the one dayhike I had used it, we did some trail running and the pack was very stable.
* Side-mounted compression straps to limit load shifting.
* Mesh + foam-formed air-channeled back pad = VERY breathable.
* Welded and waterproof front zippers.
* Tuck-away tie-down loops.
* Hydration bladder pocket.
So I only had the opportunity to take it out once on a long dayhike with pals before winter set in and everyone started hitting the slopes. Although it performed flawlessly, I am selling it due to three reasons:
1) At first I wanted to use the Vapor 30 as a basis for ultralight (and ultra-compact) overnighters and weekenders, as I accumulated my gear this winter it began to dawn on me that my stuff was going to be heavier and puffier than I had originally intended. Eventually I bought an Osprey Atmos 50 to handle that sort of capacity. In addition, I have two large-capacity Camelbak packs, so I have no real screaming need for this pack that I can't cover with all the packs that I now have.
2) The "large" torso length (torso length >20") is a bit too long for my 5'8" frame.
3) I need to generate revenue for ski bindings. :P
