I've climbed Hood south dog route a number of times in the spring (and the Sunshine route) and am considering climbing this winter up the south side--maybe skiing from the top or from the hogsback. My concern is avalanches. I know that the slopes to the west of the crater have seen avalanches over the years, but is there much aval activity above the main berg and up thru the gendarme gates?
Also, thinking of doing Cathedral Ridge in April--yes from the bottom--darn near sea level. Anyone with experience there?
