Mera/Island Peaks in April/May 05?

Experienced mountaineer now based in Virginia planning a trip to Mera, Island or another trekking Peak in Nepal as a first time trek/climb into the Kumbu. Too expensive for me right now for a higher peak fee. I'm looking at doing it on the cheap, but not really interested in solo travel. So, looking for anyone interested to explore the area...also, I have some ability to get some pretty discounted airfare into Katmandu from Washington Dulles.
