So this may seem like a real sucker question, but having been reading for several years, I have never given you guys any money. How do you make money such that you have any to donate anywhere? That said, kudos for joining this wonderful cause, I think it improves the quality of this forum.

Thanks, Carl. We're really excited to be part of the organization and think it's an important move to make.

You're right that none of our Trailspace readers ever have to pay any fees to access the site. All of it--reviews, forums, and editorial content--is completely free. Our revenue comes from advertisers, such as the outdoor specialty retailers who list the pricing and availability of their products in the "Where to Buy" section of each gear reviews and product page.

This fall we'll start keeping everyone posted about where we're making our donations and what kind of work those organizations are doing.
