Re: Toyota Trundling Ad Irresponsible
I am sure all the snow plow drivers are upset about the version showing the guy burying his car in the snow.
I personally am not to concerned about this ad. I don't believe there will be a rash of trundling incidents as a result... Nor do I believe there will be a rash of snow plow drivers running into buried cars. True, the ad is in bad taste and is bound to hit a nerve among climbers, mountaineering folk and hikers but to the general public who are unaware of the dangers of discharging anything over a cliff, they will see the ad and the rock over the cliff in the simple light for which it was intended.

Re: Toyota Trundling Ad Irresponsible
I'm with Alicia. The guy who killed Pete Absolon didn't do it on purpose; he just didn't think before kicking the boulder over that hit him. People imitate what they see on TV; they shouldn't, but they do, even when it is in an ad, in spite of the tiny disclaimers you usually see.
As far as snowplows go, there is a reason there are "no parking" signs all along the Sierra warning drivers not to park along the roads in winter. Car owners are also supposed to put wands on their cars in lots so that plows can see where the cars are.

I think the ad comes soon after Petes death which strikes the nerve a bit deeper.
I am not disagreeing, merely sharing my perspective.

I can see your point where you could be upset by the ad.
To be totally honest - If I saw that add when I was a kid and came across a boulder on a cliff (with no houses or roads at the bottom), I know for a fact I would have tried to roll it down the hill. I bet many others reading this would too.

Re: Toyota Trundling Ad Irresponsible
While I doubt someone would watch the ad and then immediately decide to go find a rock or boulder to push off a cliff (at least I hope not), I can easily imagine someone who's seen an ad like this someday happening upon a rock and thinking it would be fun to push it off a cliff, not understanding the potential consequences.
I think the ad's in poor taste, especially coming so soon after a death by this action. I was in a bit of shock the first time I saw it. Although I doubt Toyota even has a clue that a death even occurred.
Ultimately though, I worry more about people seeing this done and then accepting the action as an okay thing to do at the top of a cliff or mountain. The man who caused Pete Absolon's death has to live with that every day. And I'm sure he would do anything to go back and not push that rock off that cliff.

Very irresponsible add---not to "sane" people but there are some people out there who won't care what the consequences would be after dislodging a boulder. Manufacturers have to be responsible advertisers and not go, "just for the impact" so to speak. Shame on Toyota.

The ad promotes creating "accidents" to allow people to file bogus insurance claims to help them buy Toyotas. What will their managers do behind closed doors if they publically advocate crooked behavior.
