I want to moderate the gear section. I'd be a fair and honest moderator, just like a politician.

jad, just so ya get the proper responses in regards to your inquiry I am going to move this to the Feedback forum.

This way the individuals that can provide the proper info can chime in on this matter.

Although I am a mod I am not quite sure I can answer your inquiry correctly due to the fact that I am not sure exactly what the criteria is so I figured your inquiry would be better addressed by those that have a better idea of how this is handled than I do.

Thanks-Rick

We're not currently seeking new moderators (politicians or otherwise), but I do appreciate your interest.

Generally speaking, moderators are selected, as needed, from among longtime members with a significant history of positive contributions to the Trailspace community.

Peanut Butter is the key and ya have to use a mouthful. I did it to see if there was any change and there wasn't.

I was once a Trailspace moderator from Flo Duh - it ain't ALL fun and games.

Truth be told... that stupid gun thread and some of the replies from long time members massively pissed me off and sent me over the edge of the cliff

I think the moderators do a great job. If they needed help they would ask Dave or Alicia to ask someone to moderate.Thats my 2 cents  FWIW..

Yes. It's known as TrailCrawlSpace...they are really big on the LNT philosophy. You will not find that place, I can assure you.

Jad:

Try hearding cats, it'll be less frustrating.

The best way to ruin the joy in an activity you love is making it a job.  I am sure the mods here often find themselves biting their own lip dealing with both flamers and the overly sensitive, not to mention those lacking the better judgment to self edit remarks unfit for a family oriented site.  We members see only the refined product; imagine all the warts and back hair shorn behind the scenes, as they attempt to groom musings from the unwashed masses – or should I say unwashed dirt baggers – into coherent and informative additions to the site.  I also doubt they get to choose what they read or unilaterally deem what is worthy or not.  At best it is a committee process, perhaps not well suited for the "take charge" kind of person.  Heck you would be compelled to read my unmoderated meandering tomes - that alone should scare you off.

That's a good thing that your getting out and rest assured that there will be enough beach cleanup to keep you busy with the Japanese tsunami wreckage starting to wash ashore.  We will soon need an army of people out there to clean up that mess.

I grew up with a Minks(S?) Cat not the wild animal, but I will say that that was one feisty "lady"  Her name was Moma Kiddy, you can guess how she got that name.  One she bit through a pair of heavy leather welding gloves, the thump nail and all the way to the bone, my dad's hand not mine, but you get the Idea.  Go forbid you got in her way when she was in heat!!  She even use to stand up to the racoons that would try to steal her food.  One crazy cat.

As for 300, well that's that the Samaritans are for! :)

Wolfman

Oh yea, I'm back from my trip and will post a trail report soon. :)
