a list of trails would be a nice thing to have. It could be setup so users put in the info or the moderators. it would just have to be organized by location some how.

That's actually one of the original ideas we had when we started the site, although it's never really come to fruition.

A couple sites that might have what you're looking for are trails.com and hikipedia.com.
