emoticons (especially animated ones)

OK, I know this is a silly request. Feel free to ignore it :*).

But being used to other forums, I find myself wishing we had the same cool emoticons (especially the animated ones) available elsewhere :).

In the interest of keeping things reasonably simple and clean around here, we probably won't be implementing graphical emoticons any time soon. But as you've demonstrated, the colon-parenthesis family will continue to work.

I particularly like the animated middle finger emoticon that many forums have. :-/ (Insert sarcastic look emoticon here.)

I can still do this though:

Are you *sure* you won't add animated emoticons?  We could be using emoticons like these (probably one of the most comprehensive selections I've seen)!

I like emoticons sometimes, then again not having them forces you to be a better writer. I do like the clean look of this forum, it's a welcome break from the cluttered 'canned' ones.

Dave has put a lot of hard work into Trailspace I'm sure, and it shows.

I have to agree with Trouthunter. The other sites are to appease simpler minds at times. And it is easier to find threads and it looks much more professional for advise.

Keep it simple, you have way too much free time on your hands if all you have to do is play with things.....

I cant imagine what a site with all those would look like. It 's like looking at the sun and dying.

heh heh :) wow, what powerful responses.   It's interesting to see how people react :).  Anyway, that other site is good, not what one might expect from the list of emoticons.  Anyway, no worries, I know the stance here, and no worries, I'll live without fancy animated emoticons [on this site]  :).

@Ed, I for one don't have too much free time, but in what little I have, sometimes these simple things amuse me :).
