Whereabouts in AZ. are you located? I am in Sierra Vista and have been doing custom sewn outdoor gear and repairs for over 17 years. Ran Business in Colorado from 1990 - 2002 and relocated. I too also own a Jansport D2 and can pull it out and see if I can replicate the straps. BTW, No I will not part with my D2! It is an awesome pack. I also might have some repair parts available as I am notorious for "Pack-ratting" any type of spare parts.
