Re: Vendor that does Seam Sealing on Tents ?
Gear Repair and Maintenance Forum
Seam sealing a tent yourself is easy enough that you don't need to bother with the manufacturers. Besides which, most manufacturers include a note to the effect that before taking the tent out into weather, you (that is, you the purchaser and user) should seamseal it. They often include a bottle or tube of one of the two major brands. The directions are quite simple and on the packaging for the two major products. Basically, set the tent up in a well-ventilated area, paint the seam sealer on the seams of the floor and fly (inside, of course), let dry for several hours in a well-ventilated area. And you are done. One brand supplies a brush, the other you just squeeze a line out of the tube and use a toothpick to spread it evenly along
the seam, ensuring it goes into the needle holes. You don't need to seam seal the tent body (it isn't waterproof anyway, since that is the job of the floor and fly).
