I just bought the MEC Tarn 2 tent and have a question about their pole tips. There is a plastic tip that has a hole in it. I can't figure out what this is for. Anyone have a clue?

Have you asked MEC?

Well, MEC prominently mentions their "Grip Tip ends" on their poles in the tent descriptions. So it probably has to do with how the tips attach to the tent. Is there a hook or a short metal rod to insert into the pole end at each attachment loop (Eureka uses something like this for some of their tents)? MEC makes pretty good stuff, and stands behind their products.

OOOOOOOPPPPPPSSSS!!! Better hope ministercreek doesn't notice! MEC tents are "Sewn in Vietnam, fabric from Taiwan, frame from South Korea", and some are "Sewn in China, fabric from Taiwan, frame from South Korea". In fact, all their store-brand, MSR, Big Agnes, and other tents are all listed as made in China or Vietnam. ooooooooo!!!! But maybe it's ok, since MEC is Canadian.

I did check with MEC and read about their "grip-tip ends" however they didn't mention anything about these holes in their description. Perhaps I'll call or just wait and ask them the next time I'm there. Thanks anyways.
