How to care for my new Alico New Guide boots?

I recently invested in a pair of Alico New Guide boots,"which is a big investment for my budget" and I was just wondering if someone could tell me the best techniques to take care of these bad mamma jamma's. I have herd how hard these boots are to break in, so I was wondering if I should use my Nikwax leather conditioner to help soften them up and waterproof them? I know the craftsmen of these boots use there own special techniques, so I just want to make sure I don't mess them up. If anyone has owned these boots please let me know what do, and not to do to these things. Thanks a bunch, THE TROSS
