Hey all. There's always one thing you forget and this time it was my boot wax. I've been hiking around for four months now and my boots are dry and are starting to leak. I've looked around for boot wax, but all I can find is shoe polish which I don't think will do the trick. What can I use to water proof my boots?
Thanks

What kind of boots do you have I ask because some boot makers recommend cretin products.
Or you could try mink-oil or silicone, Silicone is a liquid and mink-oil is a past so it works best when the leather is warm.

Mink oil will soften the counters too much.Find or order some Sno-seal.

The boots are nubuck leather. I can not find any sort of conventional wax or oil where I'm at (middle of knowwhere in Papua New Guinea) but I desperately need to do something. Candle wax?

Do you mean my boots wont last as long? I have used Mink Oil for at least 25 years and I have had no problems. I have used it on cheap boots as well as expensive boots. And my dad used it forever, well from what I can remember anyway lol.

Mink oil softens leather heel counters and toes. Glad it's worked for you, but there are a plethora of substantially better products. Same reason I gave up my old IBM 8086 computer.
