Hi! Here are the two backpacks i'm talking about:
[1] Osprey Stratos 34(150$ at my local shop)
[2] Osprey Atmos 35 (128$ at my local shop)
The volume for the S size is 1953 cu. in. for both of them.
Here's some pros and cons for the two:
Atmos:
+Smaller (55 x 34 x 23 cm which fits the 55x40x20 ryanair cabin baggage allowence) + I like the look + Removable sleeping pad straps
-no rain cover, you have to buy it separately
Stratos:
+Integrated raincover
+cheaper
+small pocket in the right harness strap
-I won't probably be able to take in on a plane as hand baggage (the small is 62 x 37 x 33 cm)
Can you think of any other?
I have four questions:
-Why the stratos costs less?
-Why the stratos is bigger while having the same volume of the atmos?
-Do they fit the 2L or the 3L hydtratation pack?
-Which one would you take for day hikes and travelling?
Thanks!

I can't comment on the Atmos but I had a Stratos 36. I purchased a medium and it didn't fit quite right. I did use it for several hikes before selling it. I did like the pack features like the integrated rain cover and the pockets on the hip belt. I also like the mesh back on the suspension system. I didn't like the stow and go trekking pole rig. The poles got in the way if I was scrambling. I did like the "look" of the pack and it seemed durable enough.
