What're you asking Santa for this year?

It's almost that time of year (at least the department stores seem to think so), and I wanted to open up a lighthearted discussion here and ask:

What gear will make it onto your 2013 Christmas wish list?

Although I'm asking for some larger items (like a GoLite down jacket), mine's mostly smaller items (think "stocking stuffers") and things I readily need but hate making last-minute trips to the store to get: batteries, snacks, FD meals, canister stove fuel, BIC lighters, etc.

The older I get, the more I come to appreciate getting gifts I'll actually use.

I too like small practical things. But my wife insists on buying me big expensive stuff. So I've stopped shopping for a new soft shell and instead have decided to ask for one for Christmas.

In the past I've been given an REI gift..I prefer to buy from cottage companies..This year its a toss up to a ZPacks Heximid Solo Plus or a Hilldeberg Soul to go more into Winter backpacking..Decisions Decisions..

I don't really want anything.  I just always try and make the holidays memorable and happy for my 2 kids.

I have asked Santa for a snowboarding trip to Jackson Hole, Wy in early spring. Of course, Grand Teton NP and YNP will also be on the agenda.

I hope to get no ice on the road that I cycle down to work at 545 am. Maybe a new heater for my trailer. Other than that I already bought everything I wanted this year during the last 6 months in outdoor gear, tent,pad,warmer clothes. Maybe some studded tires in case of an icy road?

Think they've got that at the REI Garage Sale, Macchio?

Given that Thanksgiving and Hanukkah coincide this year, I might request a Menurkey!

Seriously though - I'm very interested in cuben fiber these days.  I'm salivating over some Hyperlite Mountain Gear stuff!

I am thinking of items for my upcoming thru hike.  Namely;

GPSR device, although I really have no idea what I need or if it is something I really want or need.

SPOT or one of the other brands so the family can keep track of me.  Again not sure what I really need.  I followed some people with spots this year and they seemed less then reliable on updates.

Other then those two big ticket items, I am rather set on gear.  Maybe some Hammock quilts or a nice cuben fiber tarp, if any of you want to send me one! :D
