coleman tent

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the colmen exponent ascend 2 tent. It seems as though they are discontinued by coleman, but the tent looks nice and you can't beat the price its going for. any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: coleman tent

Took a peek at http://www.nomadik.com/gear-equipment/camping-hiking/tents/three-season/coleman-exponent.aspx - doesn't look like a bad tent - I suppose it depends on the environment in which you intend to use it.

I'm not implying that the tent in question is substandard but I do keep in mind that when equipment fails on the trail, the fact that you got it at a bargain price seems very insignificant. Depending on the environment and season the failure of a tent can be tragic.

Re: coleman tent

Thank you very much for the insight. I mainly plan to use the tent for car camping, not backpacking. I had never seen coleman's more expensive/rugged line was just wondering what some experienced folks thought of it. Truth be told I found tent for under $80 and was just trying to see if it was a good buy.

Re: coleman tent

I have a Coleman Kenai which is about 9x12 that I use for car camping. $35 from Costco last summer! It is really full featured with 2 huge doors, pockets and vents galore, etc. Amazing, durable tent. I've had it out in torrential, all-night downpours and it didn't leak a single drop. Haven't even applied any seam sealer, either. For car camping, I don't see how you could possibly go wrong with a Coleman.
