high humidity, low dew points, high winds and heavy rain recommendations
i'm presently looking for a new tent that can handle heavy use on the gulf coast for disaster relief and a few days a month of short backpack camping trips. my last tent was a swiss gear department store tent that lasted about two years before the zippers died. looking for something a bit better.
the new one needs to be under 10#'s, sleep 2-3, hopefully over 30 sq ft. be able to handle shedding condensation, which is a given, down the inside of the fly without dropping it into the tent, humidity here is almost always over 90%. combine the humidity with a low winter dew point and you have a rainstorm in the tent and a wet camper, not to mention a case of hypothermia. we have lots of rain and high winds, sometimes 5-6" usually 1-3" per hour with up to 60mph gusts. super dependable zippers, especially on the bug screens. i doubt i can find it all in one tent, but hoping to find most of it in one tent. trying to stay under $300. i would prefer to buy a new tent with a warranty, but will settle for a used and/or discontinued one that is the right tent for the job in good shape with high recommendations. also wondering if polyester would be better than nylon? the tents i've been considering after days of review reading are:
