I have been trying some of the DIY backpacking lately and I thought that it would be a good idea to make my own quilt. I got some 1.1 oz ripstop and 5 oz climashield apex. Does anyone have expirence with climashield apex? If so how warm do you think it will be? I am aiming for it to be in the 30 degree kind of area.

I don't have an answer for you since I don't have experience making my own quilts.

There may be members who do.

I would suggest maybe asking the same question over at:

http://hammockforums.net/

A lot of the members there make their own quilts, tarps, and stuff.

Another good source is http://www.rayjardine.com/ray-way/Quilt-Kit/index.htm

The site is operated by Ray and Jenny Jardine. They have extensive knowledge on this subject and are avid outdoors folk. They also have a specific article on their website "Why Sew?", as well as, "Sewing Tips".

I would recommend them.
