I'll try to be subtle. My daughter is of an age where she is wondering which level works best for placing the sliding sternum strap on her pack.

Above, beneath or on them?

Ladies please help.

My daughter (17) goes for over them. I would assume what ever is comfortable.

Women I have hiked with place the strap above.  But don't tell her, she'll do the opposite just because you are dad!)

Slightly above, or wherever is comfortable.

Not under.

I use the sternum strap just above 99% of the time. If I have either screwed up loading the back or have a really heavy pack, I'll use the strap across my breasts. I've heard from those with er, large endowments, that using the strap on one's breasts isn't that comfortable.

Sternum straps under is just not good. It hurts. It messes up your balance. Did I mention it hurts?
