Just picked up an old (new in box) Guardian+Plus SweetWater filter with viralguard cartridge. I will not be using the viralguard unless needed. Any good tips on how to keep the filter clean? The instuctions say not to back flush. Do the new MSR filters work on this older model?

It came with everything. New. Found out it is the same as the MSR. So I can buy filters at double the price I paid for the outfit.

Lol, yeah the filter elements can be a bit pricey.

The MSR's come with a brush you can clean the filter with, since the water filters from the inside out. I've brought it on the trail :)
