please remember wikipedia is a publicly run web site. There is no all seeing monitor who checks every article for factual information, and in fact some articles start with a warning stating there are conflicting facts. As a college student I am not allowed to use any information from wilipedia in my research, and have had many PHD level teachers state faults in wikipedia articles (ironic considering the man who started wikipedia went to my university and was a professor here). The death certificate of Chris McAndless states he died of starvation, according to the book and movie he died from eating the seeds of a plant which led to starvation. So, I guess you can get into an argument of details but either way it was from a lack of food. Moral of the story dont believe everything on wikipedia...

In response to the movie...I just bought it a few days ago and watched it...I was highly impressed...I thought Emile Hirsch was excellent (if you agree check out the movie lords of dogtown he is very good in it as well) in the movie and actually had a striking resemblance to the photos of Chris...I would agree with the praise of Sean Penn. He did a great job of simply telling the story...also everyone love vince vaughn....
