I picked up the DVD of the movie (the 2-disc version that includes some very interesting discussion by Krakauer about his research and discussion by the director about how they involved the family. One interesting point was how they decided not to film inside the actual bus, although the actual bus is in the film. They found two other old Fairbanks buses that they cut in half to be able to film the "inside" scenes.
