My Tent Has Arrived

The four-season tent I purchased from outdoorgb.com has arrived here at the Sauk City Post Office safe and sound, I'm most happy :) to report.

I'm sure glad I returned that Kelty Orb tent. That tent proved to be most unsatisfactory for my needs.

I feel the Coleman Exponent Phact X3 will prove to be a much better tent. Bear in mind this tent is sold only in the UK and Austrailia.

Re: My Tent Has Arrived

I literally just read this in an e-mail from Coleman:

For more than 100 years, Coleman has been committed to the outdoors, and to many great causes that advocate for the environment, outdoor recreation and youth outdoor education.

I think 100 years of outfiting campers and hikers makes them pretty big. They sell products all around the world.

I'm not judging them in any way based on their history, just saying, yeah, Coleman is an outright big brand name in camping and outdoor gear.

Re: My Tent Has Arrived

My bet is that if you asked average Americans (including people who've never camped/hiked/backpacked) to name an outdoor company they would say Coleman first.

I could be wrong, but it would definitely be right near the top for brand awareness.

combat dog here....I do not care for non hiking people that just camp.

I think this website should be used for hiking, backpacking, etc.

NOT for someone sitting in a state park cleaning up beer cans etc.....

There is some fine posters here, and I come to this website a couple times a week...but,I'm fed up with your stuff..

Bring Trailside back trails.....not park living.........

I will have to disagree with you on this point you made.

What trendy backpacking shop that carries popular BIG name brand gear carries Coleman too if it so "big name brand" as ye allege?

Name one...

answer none.

Re: My Tent Has Arrived

Hmmm, correct me if I'm wrong but I think ministercreek is actually referring to "high end" gear when he mentions big name gear. If so, therein lies the apparent discrepancy.

I don't think you read what I wrote.

I said ask average Americans (i.e. the man on the street) for the name of an outdoor company. I think a large portion would say or recognize Coleman.

It means nothing to me whether you think Coleman or any other brand is or is not trendy. Trendiness should not play a part in what gear you choose. Nor should judging a company solely for being big or little, a trait that is widely open to interpretation.

I'll leave it at that.

Now someone who understands what I am talking about. Thanks.

I'm referring to popular trendy brands like Sierra Designs and Mountain Hardware just to name a few.

Coleman Exponent hardly meets that qualification.

I did read what you wrote and I had to disagree with you, if that is permitted on this forum.

I for one do care if I use trendy brand gear. Very much so. Afterall I am the one doing the hiking, even if some believe I don't hike.
