A friend and I hit Lassen for Saturday night on our motorcycles.  On our drive out on Sunday, I almost had a bear run into my motorcycle when I was doing around 50-55 mph, just outside the Park.  I saw him off to the side as I whizzed by him as he was galloping across the road.  I'm sure my exhaust burned his nose hairs as he continued across the road behind me. Thank you for the hat, very nice cap.

Glad you managed to miss the bear.  I like to hike in the Caribou wilderness area east of the Park and enter from the east.  Lots of big trees and no people.  The volcanic plateaus in the area are easy hiking and full of lakes.

I don't do Caribou that much, so many places so little time.  Wait a minute, that's my stove saying.  Last visit was Memorial Day a year ago,  a bunch of snow then.  Caribou and Lassen are a little over an hour from where I live.
