I will be going to a wedding in Cheyenne, WY and was looking to make a multi-day trip out of it by doing some camping. Some friends are also going to the wedding and may join me, but I'd like to make my plans for something I'd be comfortable doing alone in the event that they decide they don't like dirt or something.

Car camping is the realistic option. Ideally, I'd like to find a place to camp that is quite near a good day hike so I can get an early start.  If I'm car camping solo, I like to be at a hosted/patrolled campground that gets fairly full.

Is there anything y'all know of that fits the bill?

Try the Snowy Range to the west.  It may be hard to find a hosted campground or one that is fairly full.  Keep in mind that the aspens start to turn in that country around Aug 20.  Fall comes early and you sound like you could be from the South.
