Does anyone have a guide company recommendation for the Inca trail in Peru?

Also any suggestions, anecdotes, things to be aware of/bring/avoid?

You will so many guiding/trek organizers once you are in Cuzco. As soon as you walk into Plaza de Armas, you don'tneed to look for them as they will come to you. The best place to get recommendation is from South American Explorers' club house in Cuzco. Here is their web site where you can get all the uptodate information you need:
