I've received my new assignment: Fort Lewis, Washington. Anyone have good link/books for outdoor activities in this area? Mainly fly fishing and hiking for now. Thanks.

oh, man! Lots of hiking and backpacking in that part of the country. Check out REI they have all kinds of stuff going on and info.

Several hiking groups in the area.

Your first order of business is to get some good rain gear. August is a grand month, however. Lots of snow in the mountains this year if you like snow.

Some big stuff to do in the summer. The Cascades are wonderful, the Olympics, the big mountains like Hood and Rainier and etc are there.

Sooo much to do from the lowlands in BIG forrests on up to the Wonderland Trail around Rainier. You can do it in sections.

Look under Washington for connections to other links.
