hey i need help with my trip

hi im 19 years old living in new jersey and me and my freind cait are fed up with adverage socity and wanna get out our plan is to camp in a wildlife refugee in cali but i really wanna learn to live off the land better and train before we go i would really like to hear some feedback ands tips

I suggest you get John Krakauer's book Into the Wild (just out as a movie) and read it thoroughly. Memorize it. You probably will drop your "live off the land" idea after thinking about the very serious consequences, or at least scale back on your romantic notions of what "living off the land" means. And yes, I mean READ the book, not just see the cut-down, heavily altered movie version

I agree with Bill. If you want to get away from technology and live off the land, you should volunteer to work on an Amish farm.
