I am still planning to go to East Zion and hike the Parunuweap in late September/early October for maybe a few days hike down the Little Brother of the Narrows. Its the East Fork of the Virgin River. The route starts near Mount Carmel Utah about 20 miles north of Kanab off Highway 89.

Like the main Zion Narrows its a 10-30 foot wide "slot" canyon that winds its way from and area called the Barracks to the eastern boundry of Zion south of Checkerboard Mesa. The canyon will be a little cooler in the late fall but still quite nice and warm too. It runs mainly east to west and is about 100 to 1000 feet deep as the river cuts deeper as it runs west from Hwy 89. It starts out very wide and open and then gets narrower near the park boundry.

Anyone who wants to go is welcome the more the merrier. I have done this hike many times. It requires some wading but there are high dry camps too.

Sandstone walls tower about 1500 feet above the eastern end called the Barracks

At the eastern end of the East Fork canyon. The White Cliffs of the Grand Staircase are seen on the horizon. The road below leads to the mouth of Monument Canyon about 6 miles in at the beginning of the hike.

Any and all are welcome, there were some who had said they might go?
