Trinity Alps

Before spending some time at the lost coast,

I am hoping to do a few-day backpack in the Trinity Alps in late June/early July. Considering hiking in via Cave Creek but open to other options. Have heard the snow pack is sticking around this year, but hope areas around 5-6,000 will be getting cleared out by then.

Looking for suggestions of great destinations in the Trinities, or even nearby Russian or Marble Mtn Wilderness. Priorities are alpine scenery (would like to get out of the trees and into the granite) and relatively few people. Have not explored this area before, so tips on good books and/or maps would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Dara

Sorry, I didn't see this sooner, and judging from your post, this is way too late for your planned trip.  But for future reference, this guy has an informative blog including info on the Trinities:

It would be interesting to hear how your trip went, and where you ended up going :).
