On Monday the 24th a friend from Japan and I hiked from Catalina State park in the western catalina Mountain NW of Tucson along the Romero Canyon Trail to the Romero Pools. Its a 1000 foot climb at first to a pass above the canyo then back down a few hundred feet to the creek and pools.

Like your shorts; look  like they bomb with my Hawaiian shirts.  Or at least keep the predators at bay.

That's cool Gary, I would love to travel out your way sometime, maybe if the economy recovers I will be able to afford it.

This was just a dayhike right? What are the day and night temps there this time of year?

Trouthunter asked: This was just a dayhike right? What are the day and night temps there this time of year?

Now its about 40/70 degrees. Usually gets to about 30/60 during the shortest days of the year in December. For me its like summer in Jackson Hole WY. But after a couple summers in Flagstaff it feels chilly.

Yes this was a dayhike about 5 miles round trip with an 1000 foot elevation change from Catalina State Park to a pass then over into Romero Canyon and the pools area.
