Thought I'd throw up some pictures of my 13 day solo trip in Porcupine Mountains State Park in northern MI. The park is roughly 60,000 square acres with 1 road that borders the park on the east and to the south. The interior is nothing but hiking trails with a plethora of backcountry. Old growth forest, streams and lots of glacial rock. Best state run park I've been to in the midwest. There are some main campgrounds but a great amount of backcountry and hike in only sites. Just thought I'd share some shots of this beautiful country for those of you looking for some hidden gems in the midwest.

Haven't been up there in 30 years or more but looking at a map just now I'm amazed at how much access they have added since then.  Looks like it is still pretty though :)  Thanks for sharing the pics!

great pictures. I especially like the sunset picture with the water splashing up in the air as it hits the rocks

Great pictures, Joshua! Used to live in MI, not the UP though. It'd be cool to go back and hike some places like that!

Wow, 13 days! That's one of my favorite places in the world; really nice photos.

Thanks all, I have a bunch more photos but this is the condensed version. I plan on hitting Isle Royale later in the summer and used this as a warm up to flush out some gear options. There's a lot of hidden water falls and interesting land all throughout this park and the backcountry sites on the Lake superior side are just plain awesome.

Joshua,

You are a water guy. That is cool.

I have paddled and camped in Michigan only a couple of times and never made it to the UP except on roads. I have met some really capable foresters from up there. Yuppers are different and I really like them. Yeah sure you betcha.

Thanks for sharing, Joshua! I've always heard that the U.P. is beautiful, but I've never seen any pictures before. It looks to be as beautiful as I've heard! You got some really nice shots! I really like the waterfall shots.
