Adventure Foods Main Meals

J. Armstrong (in TGO magazine UK) gave these meals top marks and we can only concur, after having tried at least three of these with more to come in future. The ingredients are normal, the liquid measures are accurate, hydration times are close to stated and the taste is often brilliant, especially when compared to some of the tripe they sell in the gear shops. The portions are also generous and double servings, which must be cooked in the pot, are available.

They are currently sold only by outdoorsgrub in the UK, an online company, where you can also get the lesser Mountain House meals and such. Put these together with the fabulous ready meals (for the first day or so) by "Look What We Found" and you can sack the cook.

Really, freeze dried backpacking food is almost universally a rip off and a disappointment; these meals go some way to changing all that.

NB: buy some of the silver bubble-wrap insulation and make your own 'cozy' for all your pots and these types of bag-hydrated meals as well (for 3-season use they are hot enough already).
