ALPS Mountaineering Blue Springs 20

rated 3.0 of 5 stars
photo: ALPS Mountaineering Blue Springs 20 3-season synthetic sleeping bag

Warm bag that packs down large. Great price, but you pay for it in bag space. Very lightweight.

Pros

  • Light 3 lbs
  • Warm, sleep in undies at 40 degrees
  • Includes compression sack
  • Wide version good for side sleepers

Cons

  • Packs down large, about a 10x10 cube compressed

I bought the wide version of this bag. It is still in the 3lbs range and is nice for backpacking. The downside is that it takes up a lot of bag space. It has synthetic fill and with the included compression sack compresses down to a lumpy 10 x 10 cube.  The non-wide version is only slightly smaller. So if your bag has a sleeping bag compartment you probably won't be able to get it inside.

I'm a big guy who sleeps on his side and in this case I love this bag. The price was super easy but I pay for it in bag space.  Thankfully it is also very light.  I'm a big guy at about 300lbs and I have way more than enough room in this mummy.
