Got this one on a pro-deal (sorry folks lol). I saw the details listed for this some 2+ years ago. I called Arc'teryx back then about tracking it down, but even the rep wasn't aware of it being made lol. In other words it looks like this has been in development for over 2 years. So here are some of the tech specs taken from Arc'teryx's website:
• Hip length
• Drop back hem
• Laminated 2.7 oz ThermaTek™ non-quilted construction
• Insulated helmet compatible Storm Hood
• Pit zips
• Two insulated hand pockets
• Two internal mesh pockets
• Articulated elbows
If you're familiar with the way Arc'teryx fits, this is the same fit you've come to know and love. Constructed with the athlete in mind, in other words not so great for folks with large bellies. Very long arms for reaching /placing a screw and so on. VERY warm for its weight. Great coverage with the drop tail, and the close fit seals in the warmth, and increases mobility.
I was surprised at how warm it is for its weight. I own the Fission SV, and essentially got the SL for less extreme use, and every day around town (picked it up in black for that reason..fyi the black WILL absorb that sun..my back was getting hot!). So the testing:
Day one: 25 degrees w/9 degree wind chill and mostly sunny.
layered with Patagonia R1 & silkweight-t. Light activity. Duration: 2 hrs. (when I figure out how do edit, I'll come back and update this as I use it this season and beyond)
Warmth: 5 stars (esp for its super light weight!)
Breathability: With the minimal use so far 5 stars (we'll see how it goes when I use it under harsh /more active conditions..the pit-zips I'm sure will go a ways)
Protection: 5 stars, windproof as expected (it's a gore shell after all lol). I have no doubt it will perform as it should when it gets wet as well.
Fit: I'd give it 10 stars if I could! like a glove!
So there you have it, brief review of my initial use!

What do you get when you fuse luxury fabrics and revolutionary construction from a company that likes to push forward the evolution of outdoor apparel and set new industry standards' You get the Arc'teryx Men's Fission SL Insulated Jacket, an incredibly lightweight yet durable waterproof, insulated jacket that has evolved to thrive under hard and prolonged use in the harshest alpine conditions. It is the lightest- weight waterproof, insulated jacket that Arc'teryx offers. Arc'teryx engineered the jacket's NP40p-x face fabric to be incredibly durable and water-repellent while remaining extremely lightweight. It's laminated it to a Gore-Tex Pro fabric to create a highly breathable, lightweight, and durable waterproof fabric made for the most extreme conditions and use. Arc'teryx's Therma Tek insulation is treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish that keeps it from absorbing water if it's exposed to moisture. In an innovative construction process, the insulation is bonded to a tough nylon lining to create one consistent layer of warmth that leaves no cold spots that could otherwise be caused by insulation clumping. The jacket is sealed up by a high-tech watertight Vislon 2-way front zipper that keeps water out without the need for bulky storm flaps, and allows you to open the jacket from the top or bottom for easy access. One-handed drawcords at the hood and a drawcord at the hem allow you to cinch up, and the high collar on the hood, with soft brushed microsuede lining, provides full coverage to protect your neck and chin. Once you've battened down the hatches, you can always dump excess heat through the underarm zip vents. The hood is large enough to cover a ski or climbing helmet, and is designed to move with your head so you always maintain a full field of vision. The overall streamlined athletic fit and low-bulk profile of the jacket, along with anatomical shaping, articulated elbows, and underarm gussets, support agile movement so you're not restric...
