Excellent "softshell" piece all around.
Very stretchy, v.good durability and excellent arc'teryx constructions.
A simple no frills piece.
Very similar to the gamma sv. Apart from the fabric (gamma sv = powershield) the main difference is the die-cut velcro at the sleeves and the water-resistant zippers, which the gamma does not have
the stinger is a spring to fall softshell, the gamma is fall to spring, as it's warmer due to the thicker powershield/microfleece lining.
I give it a 9 on 10.
I give a slight edge to the gamma sv for overall performance, as it's insulation lends it to a wider range of activities.
The Stinger SV is a lighter piece and requires a fleece underneath much sooner than the gamma. Also the microfleece of the gamma traps more heat (I find).
The stinger sv is an excellent, well made, well thought no frills piece that does just what is designed to do.
The gamma sv or stinger sv would be no bad addition in either case -if one is after a softshell piece. I prefer the insulating trimmer fit (per size) of the gamma.
If price were no object, I would have both!
