The shovel itself is great: strong construction, easily collapsible, and the extension feature makes it perfect for snow caving. Now I am able to build both the tunnel and the cave with one shovel. Before I needed two types; a short shovel and a long. If you build many caves, this is the shovel you need.
The saw, however, is a different story. I was cutting off a branch (about one inch in diameter) and the saw broke in half. I continued to use the remaining part of the saw and it broke again. It didn’t last more than one minute of real use. Fortunately, it will be relatively easy to put a real saw on the thing.
Here's what other sites are saying:
Head into the backcountry fully prepared with the Arsenal Shovel with Tour Blade from Backcountry Access - a 6061 aluminum shovel with a durable oval shaft and sturdy T-grip with either an avalanche probe or snow / wood saw integrated into the shovel shaft. With the probe or saw stored in the shaft, weight and space are saved, and you have quick access to the probe or saw in the event of companion rescue.

Take the Backcountry Access Arsenal Shovel with 35cm Saw and A1 Blade on backcountry touring days, and you'll always have a snow saw that easily accessible right inside the shaft of your shovel. Backcountry Access cleverly integrated the saw access into the t-grip handle, allowing you to slide the saw out without completely disassembling and reassembling your shovel. Quit digging through your bag for your snow saw and instead reach for the Arsenal Shovel system when you stop to run some stability tests on a heavy day.
