User Review: Berghaus Alpine Lite Extreme Jacket

Rating: rated 3 of 5 stars
Fabric: Ripstop Gore-tex 2 ply
Price Paid: I paid £120

At the price I paid this jacket is sensational however, at normal prices (£220-£240) this jacket just ain't so good. It is light and watertight - even in driving rain and snow and the breathability is OK but I have my doubts about the build quality. I wonder how much of the jacket's 'bombproofness' was sacrificed to get the weight down. Berghaus claims that the features can be operated with one gloved hand and frankly this is rubbish. Used now for over 2 years in all that Scottish winter has to through at it I STILL have to remove my (Berghaus Extrem) mitts every time!

Compared to other jackets out there (North Face Mountain etc and the wonderful Marmot collection) this one is a no goer! If lightness is everything then you may consider it.
