User Review: Berghaus Inferno Windshirt
Rating: ![]()
Fabric: airfoil
Price Paid: 82 euro
This is a lightweight anorak-style windstopper made of a very though polyester microfibre. I’ve been using it for seven years now for bicycling, canoeing, hiking and ice-skating and it still looks like new.
It does a good job as a windstopper, although it is not for the full 100 percent windproof. Around the zipper wind is coming through. The fabric breaths well, at least better then jackets made out of pertex or gore-tex. It gets sweaty when active, but which windbreaker does not? Some more ventilation options won’t be over-done.
The Inferno Windshirt doesn’t keep you dry in the rain, at least not for long. But it stands a drizzle. When wet, the fabric becomes soaked with water. Anyway, it dries quickly.
What I especially like of it is the very effective cap, which gives a good view in al directions and stays fixed even under rough circumstances. Further the shirt is featherlight (300 grams/11 oz.) and it packs small.
Unfortunately the cut of the anorak is too wide. Perhaps it was quite trendy eight years ago or so when it was designed, but for sports it is annoying. The sleeves and the back flapper around on windy days. But Berghaus has redesigned the shirt recently and says to have solved this problem.
Overall a good windstopper.
