I recieved a Lightning about three years ago as a Xmas present. When used in extreme weather for the first time the hood leaked through the fabric. As a result Berghaus replaced the jacket without a quibble, Unfortunately the replacement seems to have the same problem! I have allways had better weather protection from the aquafoil pro fabrics used by Berghaus and also Marmot membrain fabrics.

I have had Berhaus Lightning Gore-Tex jackets for over ten years, with over a thousand miles walking I feel I can no longer trust Gore-tex jackets. In my experience the breathablity soon fails when the coat is wet. Last time I wore the coat was on Exmoor England when it was hard rain for two days, I was wet through within an hour!

I have now bought an Lowe Alpine Foothills Jacket and I will soon be testing it in the wilds of Scotland.
